Fashion is to please your eye. Shapes and proportions are for your intellect. What I hate is nasty, ugly people. Everything I do is a matter of heart, body and soul. I like to be real. I don't like things to be staged or fussy. I have my permanent muses and my muses of the moment.

I think God is the most fantastic designer. Fashion fades, only style remains the same. My aim is to make the poor look rich and the rich look poor. Luxury will be always around, no matter what happens in the world. I get ideas about what's essential when packing my suitcase.

Fashion should be fun. It shouldn't be labelled intellectual. The important thing is to take your time and not get stressed. If you wear clothes that don't suit you, you're a fashion victim. You have to wear clothes that make you look better. I've treated the waistcoat as if it were a corset, so that it becomes the first layer in the process of putting clothes on the body.
