Fashion never stops. There is always the new project, the new opportunity. It's useless to send models out on the runway to cry. There are only three things I can do - make a dress, decorate a house, and entertain people. Fashion is about dressing according to what's fashionable. Style is more about being yourself. I never like to think that I design for a particular person. I design for the woman I wanted to be, the woman I used to be, and - to some degree - the woman I'm still a little piece of.
For me, the summer will be pure gray - mother-of-pearl gray, very pale gray. To me, this is the big statement for summer. Then we have light blue, light turquoise, lots of pink. Don't dress to kill, dress to survive. I get ideas about what's essential when packing my suitcase. Elegance isn't solely defined by what you wear. It's how you carry yourself, how you speak, what you read. All I did my first year at Vogue was Xerox.
Clothes mean nothing until someone lives in them. I have a fantastic relationship with money. I use it to buy my freedom. I believe in comfort. If you don't feel comfortable in your clothes, it's hard to think of anything else. I like the things around me to be beautiful and slightly dreamy, with a feeling of worldliness. Age is something only in your head or a stereotype. Age means nothing when you are passionate about something.
